ARCS Australia and Macquarie University to Co-Host National Clinical Research Workforce Capability and Capacity Summit
Sydney, 22 July 2025 — ARCS Australia and Macquarie University have announced a new partnership to deliver the inaugural Clinical Research Workforce Capability and Capacity Summit, to be held at Macquarie University on 2 September 2025.
This national Summit will address the urgent and growing need to build a sustainable, future-ready workforce for clinical research in Australia—an essential foundation for the country’s ability to conduct world-class research, attract global trials, and ensure timely access to innovative therapies.
ARCS Australia CEO, Dr Tim Boyle, said,
“Clinical research is the engine room of Australia’s life sciences sector, much of which is sustained by inbound clinical trials. Yet across the country, we’re seeing critical workforce shortages and capability gaps that threaten our ability to remain competitive and meet both current and future demand. These capacity issues have a flow-on effect that disrupts the broader ecosystem and directly impacts every aspect of the development and commercialisation of therapeutic products within the sector.”
“This Summit is about bringing together those who can shape change. From industry, research institutions, government and education to tackle the structural, educational and strategic challenges facing the clinical research workforce. ARCS is proud to partner with Macquarie University to drive this important national conversation.”
The one-day Summit will bring together senior representatives from government, academia, industry, public and private health services, and training providers to discuss strategies that can strengthen workforce pathways, support clinical trial site readiness, and enhance capability building across the lifecycle of clinical research roles.
ARCS and Macquarie University are now seeking Expressions of Interest from senior professionals and leaders who would like to contribute to this pivotal discussion. With limited capacity at the venue, invitations will be extended to ensure broad representation across sectors, disciplines, geography and demographics.
Select invitations will be issued to key stakeholders, and others interested in attending are invited to submit an Expression of Interest here: https://forms.office.com/r/i25mcAUMfr.
