Medical Affairs is one of the fastest-growing and most rewarding areas in the pharmaceutical industry. But breaking in — or stepping up — can feel daunting without the right knowledge, skills, and strategies.

That’s why ARCS and Edge Medical have created a 4-part webinar series to give you the insights and tools you need to secure your place in Medical Affairs.

Delivered live across four weeks (1 hour each) and then available on demand via ARCS and Edge Medical, this program blends presentation, discussion, and live Q&A so you walk away with clarity, confidence, and an actionable career plan.

Week 1 – Cracking the Code: Pharma & Medical Affairs 101 - November 13, 2025

Week 2 – Inside the Engine Room: Roles & Skills that Drive Medical Affairs - November 20, 2025

What you’ll learn:

  • Core Medical Affairs roles: MSL, Medical Advisor, Medical Manager, Medical Information.
  • What these roles involve — and what they are not.
  • The competencies that matter: scientific expertise, communication, business acumen, EQ – you need to showcase these in any CV or interview
  • Real-world examples of day-to-day responsibilities.

Learning outcomes:

  • Differentiate between key Medical Affairs roles and roles across functions.
  • Recognize the mix of skills and attributes employers seek.
  • Assess your own transferable skills and identify development priorities.

 

Week 3 – Breaking In: The Playbook for Landing Your First Role - November 27, 2025

What you’ll learn:

  • Translating your background (academic, clinical, or sales) into Medical Affairs language.
  • Networking that works: LinkedIn, conferences, informational interviews.
  • Crafting the ultimate CV, optimizing LinkedIn, and engaging recruiters effectively
  • Researching companies and tailoring your applications.

  • Build a clear networking and job-search strategy.
  • Apply best practice CV and LinkedIn techniques to stand out.
  • Confidently engage with recruiters and hiring managers.

 

Week 4 – From Applicant to Insider: Interview Success & Action Planning - December 4, 2025

What you’ll learn:

  • Preparing for interviews: case studies, behavioural, and technical questions.
  • Negotiating offers and understanding compensation packages.
  • Building your 12-month action plan to accelerate entry into Medical Affairs.
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them.

Learning outcomes:

  • Demonstrate readiness for Medical Affairs interviews.
  • Apply negotiation skills to secure strong offers.
  • Develop a step-by-step action plan to land your role in 2026.

Matthew Britland, Medical and Managing Director of EdgeMedical

Experienced Medical Affairs Director with a demonstrated history of working in the pharmaceuticals industry and clinical roles. Skilled in Pharmaceutical Medicine, Oncology and Haematology . Strong professional with a MMedSc focused in Pharmaceutical Medicine from UNSW Australia. Currently working towards DrPH which focuses on the the role of Medical Affairs in the Quality use of Medicine (QUM) and its impact on patient outcomes.

This workshop runs for 1 hour from 10am-11am 

Attendee requirements:

  • Computer/laptop connected to power

  • Good internet access (1Mbps or better – broadband recommended)

  • A charged mobile phone and headphones (if using your phone for audio)

  • Phone charger – given the event goes all day, you will need a way of charging your phone

  • Headphones for computer audio (if using computer audio)

  • A quiet room/space
