Course Overview:

This course for study coordinators has been developed by an Australian advisory board made up of individuals with over 100 years of combined experience in coordinating clinical research at hospital sites. The course is full of practical coordination tips from people that have been setting up research for years. The session is structured so that you will walk away with useful techniques, tools and tips to apply at your centre.

  • What type of research am I working on and what regualtions should I know?
  • Understanding Protocols
  • Where do I find my participants and how do I inform them?
  • How do I plan for study visits Source documents - pitfalls and strategies
  • How do I manage investigational product and laboratory data What is safety reporting and what is my role?
  • Useful study tools

Day 2
This session will draw on the experience from our advisory board as well as other attendees to develop strategies and contingencies to a series of difficult clinical coordination conundrums. Various 'chestnuts' to be covered include:

  • What can I do to boost recruitment and retention?
  • What about consent in special participant populations?
  • How do I demystify audits? What's involved?
  • Study design and methodology
  • What can I do to improve my organisational skills?
  • Communication strategies with your key customers
